Haburcsak earns 1st win, Kimberly is Jennerstown Speedway's 2nd female victor of season

JENNERSTOWN – A huge crowd flocked to Jennerstown Speedway on Saturday for First Responder Appreciation Night presented by the Somerset Trust Company. The night kicked off with the biggest on track autograph session that the speedway has ever seen. Fans from far and wide had the opportunity to meet and greet their favorite Jennerstown drivers.

The first feature of the night featured the Ron’s Collision Center Street Stock division. Angie Kimberly rocketed to the lead from her pole position and never looked back. This was Kimberly’s second career street stock win and her first of the season. She became the second female driver of the year to visit Stoney’s victory lane at Jennerstown Speedway.

The Farmers Union CO-OP Charger division produced side-by-side competition with drivers Steve Singo, Nick Niemiec and last week's winner, Nate Valente. After a hard-fought battle, Singo returned to Stoney’s Victory Lane for the third time this season.

In the One Stop Auto Sales Pro Stock feature, points leader Jeff Giles jumped to an early lead from his front row starting spot. It appeared Giles would turn a commanding lead into yet another win this season. However, Adam Kostelnik would have something to say about that. Kostelnik, who suffered mechanical issues two weeks in a row, would not be denied as he picked up his first victory of the 2022 season after starting sixth.

Johnathan Haburcsak (40) leads Caleb Vasos (57) in the Somerset Trust Fast N' Furious 4's feature, Saturday, at Jennerstown Speedway.

Johnathan Haburcsak is not only the current points leader at Jennerstown Speedway in the Somerset Trust Fast N’ Furious 4’s division, but he is also leading the NASCAR Northeast Regional points for his division. Haburcsak was seeking his first career visit to Stoney’s Victory Lane and was a man on a mission Saturday. It was a hard-fought battle with Caleb Vasos and a late-charging Lance Shawley, but when the checkered flag fell, it was Haburcsak celebrating a very emotional win victory lane.

After a caution-filled feature last week the Stoystown Auto Wrecker Modifieds, they went flag to flag with their 20-lap feature event. John Fama picked up his third win of the season. Fama was challenged by Doug Glessner. However, Glessner was unable to mount a charge for the win. Last week's winner Tom Golik finished in a close third at the line.

The finale of the night was owned by Barry Awtey, the all-time winningest driver at Jennerstown Speedway. In the Martella’s Pharmacy Late Model division, Awtey dominated from his pole position, picking up his third win of the season.

Next week will feature two full nights of racing. A full program will begin on July 2, followed by a free concert by the Katelyn Rose Band. July 3 will feature a second full day of racing followed by Fireworks presented by JR Tunstall Auto and Truck Repair.
